i have same problem, any help would be nice.
thanks in advance.
me too haha.
i think the column has to come apart and something can be tightened... but i havent bothered with it
From what I read in the haynes manual it shows how to take the airbag and stuff off to get to the steering wheel nut. I just wasnt sure if its risky to do or not.
My truck moves a good 1/2 foot. Mine now moves maybe a 1/4 inch... didnt when I got it... dang...
let me know if you try to adjust it,....i may need to do the same
There are 3 or 4 bolts down in the column that loosen up. It has been happening to gm cars for years. You need to remove the wheel, airbag, and probably the turn signal and cruise harness to get to it I think. Once in there take out bolts one by one and put loctite on them and retighten. I think car craft or super chevy had a write up about it this year.
my t/a kinda has a mind of its own....it feels like i have no control on the wheel when im on the highway....its all over the place...at first i was told by other fbody guys up here its the ruts in the roads....or tires are really wide...somethin called bump steer...but i think its more than that...imma take my steering wheel off and try and tighten all the bolts....hopefully its just that....
dorry didnt mean to thread jack
like front sway bar????
Have you got your alignment checked? If it's out of wack you will feel some of that more often.
However, It could really just be the roads you drive on. It seems as though our cars love to get pulled into ruts on the road. I know of a few sections around austin that I have to be certain I'm holding the wheel.
naw i havent....i got screwed on this t/a... a dealership sold it to me...with a check engine light that comes and goes...now its stays on...tranny feels like its about 2 go....suspension fucked....even though they sold it as is...doesnt the lemon law still apply?
i wonder how much it would run me to get an alignment...a part of me just wants 2 fire sale this car right now....but another part of me wants to keep it...and continue on the progress of making it a track monster
I'm in the UK and my alignment (a proper computer one) cost about £60 so make that about $120 if costs are similar in the US. Well worth it IMHO.
i found a place that does it for $80
Places around here are generally around $96 and it comes with a 1 year warranty.
i dont even own my t/a anymore....i traded it in yesterday
