maintenance

My 00 ws6 has been sitting awhile going go do a little maintenance can you think of anything else… it’s a 2000 with 20,000 miles on it…

Oil change
Replace air filter
Replace fuel filter
Flush power steering
Flush coolant

Did I miss anything…I purchased this car used with 10,000 miles on it haven’t done any maintance except oil changes and replace tires and brakes since I have owned it… thanks in advance for you replies

why did you replace the brakes after so few miles?

Does it start? Do you have any critters nesting in it?

car drives great..... brakes were low... so i changed them... not sure how hard the person before me drove car...

Depending on how long the car's been sitting, I'd skip the power steering & coolant flush. The car runs DexCool, which is supposed to be a 100,000 mile coolant (50k is probably more likely, unless your coolant is unnecessarily dirty).

Instead of those two flushes, I'd suggest a few other items:
- Swap your air filter for a better-flowing reusable one (like a K&N)
- Lube any grease fittings under the car
- Lubricate door hinges & door locks
- Lubricate your weatherstripping, to keep it soft
- Put some leather treatment on the seats
- For M6: Swap out your transmission fluid with a synthetic
- Rotate your tires (if you're due for a rotation)
- Alignment check
- WASH YOUR CAR! (clean & shine the rims, maybe even clean the engine bay)

there is a filter on the m6 tranny and what lubricant to u use on the weather stripping thanks roy

Oops, I goofed about the transmission part (had A4s on the brain) - no filter in a manual. Fixed in my original post.

As for the weatherstripping, most people will recommend something that's NOT oil based. I like to use a very thin coat of clear silicone lubricant from the local auto, but some people will say that silicone eats rubber. Who knows. The most recommended product I've heard about is called 303 (http://www.autogeek.net/303aerprot.html). It might be available at NAPA, but I've never looked into it.

Dexcool on newer GMs is 150k or 5yr. Flush it if any doubts, your car is almost 9 years old. I still have the OE pads on my front brakes, and I drive HARD! 69xxx miles now. Otherwise you have a good list!

Thanks guys.. car is showroom condition... always clean.... im pretty good with detailing ...just not a with engines... will post some pics when i figure out how to uploadd them..

Silicone will not eat the rubber, you can even buy it from GM in a little canister. If it says contains petroleum distilates on it though stay away.
