any input!?

I have been having problems every once in awhile with my 2001 ss m6 somtimes when i start up and try to take off if sputters and misses real bad then takes off but only in first gear so far. I was told to change the fuel filter but it still seems to do it once in awhile?? need some help guys! my motor only has 18,000 on a new crate one and it does'nt sit around either im puzzled..............

have you checked your fuel pressure at the fuel rail? I'd start there, the symptoms you're saying sounds like a dying fuel pump. IMO

No but i will though thats what i was thinking too.
