I have a new set of Taylor Thundervolts that fit my LS2, I measured the resistance of the stock wires (approx 330 ohms) compared to the Taylors which measure 38 ohms. Of course considering Ohms law V = IR we would see a substantial increase in current to the plugs, but does that translate into a performance gain. I'm looking for someone who might have dynoed wires seperately (not likely) or have some other SOP comments. Thanks.
On a highly modified 408 Stroker I have experienced blowing the spark out at higher RPMs that was fixed with MSD coils and wires. On a bolt on modified car I doubt any gains will be realized by upgrading the stock wires/coils IMHO. Nitrous/FI/ could see gains from a more efficient spark....
Just a wire upgrade probably would'nt give any noticeable gains at the wheels, but it would give you a crisper throttle response and better burn in the cylinder. It gives the plugs more spark.
Thats right, save your money. I did not now the OEM wires were that low 330OHMs. Thats good, especially when 8000 OHMs is standard on grocery getter wires. Any wire under 1000 OHMs is OK. You will gain zilch by reducing resistance to 30 something from 300 something.
not noticalbe but yes just a better current. every little bit counts. I replaced mine when I did my LT and plugs. I was in there so I thought what the hell. but if you have them yeah put them in.

Your spark plugs are 5K ohm reistance before the spark ever gets to the tip. The difference between 5ohm and 500ohm wires is irrelevant with resistor style spark plugs.
Not on anything that isn't high compression. As Sarge said.
Yes it might help a minute amount but our ignition is VERY strong and more than you already need in a stock application or minor bolt-on application.
It is more of a mod for looks.
save your money buy some good msd wires,factory coils are awesome 15 psi and no problems if it blows the flame out ill change the gap on the plugs.
Wouldnt waste your money on plug wires, stock wires are very good, besides, the MSD wires I had on kept comming loose on several spark plugs, so I put the stockers back on.
I just got my 2004 GTO about 2 months also. I have added a Cold Air Intake and some 10mm Spark plugs wires with Iridium plugs and you can really feel a diffrence. Not much of course but about 15-20 HP..Not bad i would say..I was wondering what else you all think i can add on for good HP..
