Talon Wants to Race...

Hey I just got my camaro about a month ago. For performance mods I have free ram air w/ K&n filter, tb bypass and slp catback stage 1. Everything else stock.

Do i have a shot against a awd 2.2 l (i think) racing motor. 5g into the turbo, intercooler, cammed, exhaust, entire engine rebuilt hes got 15 g into the motor. He disconected everything.. ac power steering ect. Ive heard from alot of kids in town that car hasnt lost. I havent seen the engine for myself. But Have you guys heard these cars being THAT fast??

WATCH OUT.... those DSM AWD... with lots o money in the motor... are pretty damn fast... it sounds like a tad bit faster than an evo... THIS is a drivers race

If he really has that much into the car and he's putting down good power you have no chance. I've seen those cars run 10s. You would think with that kind of money invested he has at least an 11 second car and you are about 2.5 seconds off that pace.

I got killed at the track racing one that didnt have even half that much $$$ into it. Unless he kills it off the line your done for.

yes they can be that fast, they will still sound like shit, but that car will rape you, even if you had a heads, cam , and intake package, he'd probably still walk you or be pretty close,

dont waste your gas, he'll embarass you

but remember if you put the same amount of money into your car, you'd piss all over him :)

They can be quick,,,I ran one last year in my chevelle. The kid boasted about his little talon being an 11 second car,,,I didn't discount the claim because I have seen them at the track. But when we ran, my chevelle running 11.40's at the time,,,,I put about 3 or so cars on him,,,that thing was hangin pretty tough.
I knew he wasn't kidding around about his claim. I rarely come accross a street car like that, It was an eye opener. Beware.
If I happened to be in the 02 camaro that night, it wouldn't even have been a race for him. I wouldn't have stood a chance.

If he truly has $15K in the motor with the supporting suspension and drivetrain mods, it shouldn't even be a close race. That being said, there are plenty of people out there that love to exaggerate things a bit. If $15K turned out to only be $2.5K and he has a few bolt ons to go with his stock turbo, you should be able to take him if you can drive.

FYI....from a dig those cars are very tough thanks to the AWD.

just look at the car a little closer, lots of liars in the car world

if its true.. you will see tail lights get small.... really quick.. lol... id still race him though.... go from a dig, 25.. and then from 50...

When i was younger I wanted to get the best DSM car the VR4 3000GT i came close but I researched part, services and mods for it, and found out they lead to a big sum,

I dont think youlll be able to hang with him. just save your gas. let him talk, when i see a car thats faster than mine, ill tell them to race me hauling 40tons, the stare is priceless lol.

I know what Talon's can do...
I think if he's telling you straight, he'd murder you.

Guy I kinda know has one that runs mid 11's!!! So he says, but he's got whatever talon forged stroker motor, bigger turbo, intercooler, built drivetrain, yada yada. He is a hardcore muscle car guy, had the car as a dd, blew up the motor and just built the shit outta the car for a project. I think he said he spent around 15k for all of it though...I think you're gonna get raped man, but never hurts to try.

If he put all that money in the motor and NONE in the tranny!! He's screwed. My buddy has busted 6 of the stock transmissions. There junk. But a built tranny makes a huge difference!! Im like everyone else if he has what he says, You stand no chance. But People like to talk also!! Get a ride in it. Let your butt be the judge!!

Transmissions are junk when you don't know how to drive that car.....I've busted a trans myself and learned from my mistakes. If you let those cars wheel hop, they wont forgive you.

Ok, but when all said and done, win or not. You still drive home in a Camaro and he drives home in a Talon.LOL So who really is the winner!

That's such an invalid point. I like the Talon body and the Camaro body both, and wouldn't be able to decide which body I would like better.
