reliability.
so, with a 6 speed car, 111k on the clock, what starts goin wrong?
the previous driver knew how to drive the car right. no grinding gears, and used the clutch right. would it be good to pick one up with that much wear and tear on it, and use it as a daily driver. driven in the snow and stored outside.
it has hooker longtubes, ory, and corsa catback. new set of tires.

my A4 (bone stock) is a DD and just hit 180k... I've done nothing but put a new tranny in @ 170k and shocks, and plugs @ 100k, and I drive this car super hard.
A couple of buddies have M6, both with over 100k.. they've both had to do shocks, tie rod ends, front wheel bearings, differential fluid, plugs/wires, ... one of them is still on the orig clutch... the other replaced his @ 80k

I just bought a 99 TA with 64K and just put in new pinion seals, vac hose on intake, tranny fluid, and oil change.

If the price is right go for it.

111k........eh eh............eh eh (dolphin style)

If you are gonna take out a loan i say it would be dumb, that many miles on a DD and driving these cars in the snow is just silly

Driving them in the snow is a blast!

I have 110,000 on my 2001. (bought it new) I had to replace the pilot bearing at a little under 100,000. It was completely destroyed. The clutch still had a lot of life on it but I replaced it since I was already there. Most of the problems I had with the car were in the first 70,000 miles.
111,000 miles is not a lot of miles if the car was cared for. Proper maintenance makes all the difference.
To compare -
I have 230,000 miles on my 87 Suburban. it was well cared for. I had to have a transmission rebuild at about 180,000 because the torque converter 'blew up'. The clutches in the transmission still looked good. The engine is still all original.
My first truck was a 1983 Chevy 3/4 ton. My step father bought it new in '83. I do not think he ever changed the oil. I bought the truck from him in 1986 with 66,000 miles on the odometer. I blew the engine at 80,000, due to lack of lubrication. There was two inches of sludge in the lifter valley. It threw two connecting rods through the block, the cam was in at least 10 pieces, and there were chunks of pistons and lifters in the oil pan. It was bad.
If you know the guy cared for the car, it should be a good purchase. I'm not going to sell me car because it has "high mileage". I plan to still be driving this car long past 200,000 miles and I only expect minor problems.

LS1 F-bodies are pretty well built and reliable overall. If you take care of them, you should really only have to do regular maintanence and some wear-and-tear items once you get into the higher mileage.

You guys drive your cars waaaaaay too much. 111,000 on a 2000? Wow. I'd never think of driving my car in the snow. I've got a 2002 that I bought brand new in Nov. 2001 and I just hit 45,000 miles. I love my car, and love driving it, but not in the winter. Snow+Ice+Rain+Road Salt= Disaster for our TAs.

I drive mine every chance I get and just turned 45K today!
-
I drive mine all year round. It looks new as well :)

I use mine as a DD as well. I dont have to worry about harsh winters seeing how i live in houston right now. But i grew up in NY and i know what a little salt can do. lol
