Comp XER273HR
Does anybody have any experience with this cam. I had pretty much settled on a TSP Torquer V2 or 228R and then I ran across the "Cam Quest 6". Cam Quest is Comp's cam selection software and its pretty slick. I inputed the specs for a stock 346 and some heads (actual flow number from manufacturers websites) like AFR 205, PP LS6 Stage II, and TSP 5.3 Stage 2.5. Anyways, the average and peak HP/TQ always showed higher when I selected the XER273 over the XER281 (same as Torquer V2) and other comprable sized cams. I was not able to run the 228R as it was not included in the software listings.
I know the 273 is considered a small cam but it was showing higher peak and higher average theoretical numbers than the V2 according to the software. So my questions are: is this software BS, have folks been overlooking the 273 b/c it is not offered by a lot of the major retailers, or is this my new ticket?

I'm currently running the Comp XR275HR (next size up in Comp's off-the-shelf range) and it is a great street cam that has very nice manners and has numbers very similar to the one you mention.
I just put some ETP215 heads on and the output was improved even more.
However, if you are thinking of doing heads, then I'd recommend something a little bigger in the duration and lift areas, at least a 228 duration with .580+ lift. I'm probably going to change to a larger cam later this year, to fully utilise the breathing capacity of the heads.

i was also looking at that cam XER273HR has anyone ran this cam with 1.8 rockers on it with the stock bottom end and stock pistons? with the 1.8 rockers the lift will be like .626

Rather than doing that, why not just use Comp's XFI, LSL or LSK lobes with standard 1.7:1 RRs???

I dont want to use the stock rocker arms, since i already have the Harland Sharp 1.8s and need a cam the will put me up around 7000 rpm.
