I am not very mechanically inclined, so I was hoping someone could answer this for me. If a WS6 and R/T both have a 5.7L engine, eventhough the R/T is a hemi, what makes the car comparable to the WS6? The WS6 must be much lighter and aerodynamic than the Charger, right? Does the hemi part really make up the difference? I mean I hear that the R/T is about 350 hp and the WS6 is about the same (actually, not what it was rated). Someone please explain.
5.7 is simply the size of the motor.
The WS6 has the 5.7 ls1 with 350 displacement.
The charger R/T has a 5.7 liter hemi (not sure of displacement)
the ws6 is very dynamic, but I would assume that the charger is also.
as far as the hemi part, hemi is just the name for dodge's large motor...
When someone brags about have "A HEMI" tell them to stfu and that they have a small penis.... :jk:
I raced an srt8 charger, and my Z is nowhere close to stock.

ok... lesson in HEMI... hemi is the type of head they are using... it is a hemispherical Combustion on the head... and that hemi is not what the Dodge larger engine name... just like the vortec engine... it is just from the vortec head...
as far from the 5.7 Charger vs. 5.7 WS6... ws6 will own.... the cars have about the same hp... but NOT the same weight ratio..

isnt chrysler in a lawsuit with GM for the "HEMI" motor being almost a copy of GM lsx series?
hmmm weird... when we pulled off the head of my dad's hemi truck i could of sworn i saw a type of combustion like the OLD ONES... its not just the name it has the physical atributes to the old hemi heads

If the HEMI offers the advantage of power and airflow, why isn’t Dodge or other car manufactures using the HEMI? I understand that HEMI is probably patented, but it was truly better, other companies would have found away to copy the technology and evade the copyright laws. Also, I was under the impression that R/T was just as fast as the WS6/SS, but I didn’t do any fact checking, I guess I was confusing it with the 6.1 Charger.
The SRT8 = about the same as the WS6
RT = Mustang GT
WS6's are about 500 pounds lighter than the Chargers.
Heres the thing....:Poke: one other company that I know of did copy the Hemi design. I dont know a ton about it, but the boss 429 mustang of 69 or 70 (not sure which year) that ford built only a small amount of (again, Im not a ford fan, so I dont know exact numbers, thinking it was around 500) for NASCAR homogulation (sp?) was fords hemispherical head design, and was basically a Hemi. But the other problem was, just as that engine was really starting to go strong in cars, we had a huge bunch of emissions laws passed:barfonu:, and then a gas crisis:hifinger:, so even if other companys were toying with the idea, it would have gotten killed right about then.Quote:

Apparently the Hemi uses many design features first implemented in the GM LS series, but I haven't heard anything about any lawsuits.Quote:
