depends on how bad you need a rear and how much money you have to spend. I've seen people give these rears away and I've also seen people selling them in the $300 range. I would inspect that rear very closely before buying it or you might as well just flush that $175
find out how many miles are on it? Have any of the bearings been replaced? Does it include the backing plates for the brakes?
thats not a real bad deal. I sell all of my 3.42 posi rears 98-02 style with control arms, panhard bar, torque arm, and the e-brake cables for $200ish usually. they all have anywhere from 30-80k miles on them. ready to bolt it. i would make sure you find out how complete it actually is and that it is in good shape (gear inspections will tell you alot). dont have any currently though to sell u, just sold my last one yesterday.
Not Bad.........
i mainly just wanted the ring and pinion, iv got 2.73s in my a4 and im getting ready to do the m6 swap and i wanted the 3.42s.will they fit inside my rearend or do i have to use the rearend that their already in?
anyone?
you will have to change the carrier to a 3 serires
so would it be easier to just put the entire rearend in there instead of swapping out the gears? it doesnt seem like that would be very hard to do.unbolt the LCA's and the panhard bar and the shocks, brake lines, and abs sensors, then pull it out of there.
