I wouldn't go over 275's just for contact patch sake. Much over that and you'll start losing surface area.
What size wheel are you going with? Stock WS-6 wheels are 17x9 and stock tire size is the max you wanna go on that size wheel.
iv got 9" wheels but i want to run 285 in the rear and 275 in the front. iv heard guys put up to a 285 on a 9" wheel im just not sure how good it would look. if i have to i will get the wheels widened to 9 1/2. does anybody know how much that costs (gettn the wheels widened)

to be honest dude, going with a 285 is not going to make that much of a difference anyways. if your looking to go stag. fitment go with different wheels/tires. and to answer your question about making that wheel wider...you can't. let me know if you need any more info on any wheels/tires, i work for a pretty big tire co. and can get you a lot of info!!
275 tire width is the maximum recommended tire for a 9" rim for all tire manufacturers

I had the same question but ill just go with the 275/40/17 again. Whats some web pages to find some cheap tires. Im not looking to break the bank here and i only put about 5k a year on the car at most. Its a daytime and sunny car.

Thats good info 96t/a, but to be honest by the time you get done doing all the labor and shipping/handling you can run into some sweet after market wheels. Trust me man, I deal with this every day and see different ideas. You'll be surprised how cheap some wheels can cost!!
ya iv been looking at some aftermarket wheels but the ones i like are really expensive,and i used to work at discount tire and they still give me a really good discount. im really lookin at the fisk 5 stars chrome, they look really good in an 18x10. but i dont know. but according to one of the other guys who wrote on this thread i can put up to a 315 on my 9s.i dont know that i would really go that big on such a small wheel. i prolly go w/ a 285 or 295 in the rear only.
