Is there any difference in the 4 gauge power wire they sell at car audio shops and the 4 gauge power wire sold at Home Depot and Lowe's? Those places are like .90 cheaper per foot so I'm just wondering. Thanks

yes. the 4 guage at home depot is made for homes. the insulation is thinner and it has less strands. it is like trying to fit a copper pipe through your car.
The wiring is also oxygen free that you buy from a car audio shop, so that it will not corrode like your battery cable have a tendency to do. The more strands in the wire the less resistence in the wire, which equals less power drop. I spent about $300 on wiring and connectors when I was wiring up my last system, but it was Stinger brand wire and connectors.
