I don't think 00 shot shells are measured in grains. Most 00 has 12-18 pellets though. 9 pellets sounds more like 000.
Anyway, 00 and 000 are nasty no matter how you slice it. I'd rather be shot at with a 9mm.
well how many ounces are they? any weight what so ever...
Hmm. A 00 and a 000 have the same oz of shot, just a different number of pellets. Not trying to be an ass, but why does this matter? Pick the right load for the job. 00 and 000 have two purposes. Deer, and repelling boarders. Arguably, 000 is for repelling boarders. If you're bird shooting, drop a bunch.
I don't know the oz, and I'm too lazy (and cheap) to tear a shell apart to find out. For 00/000 bearers, oz is not a consideration.
What shotgun are are using and what for?
Most 12ga 2 3/4" shotshells have between 1oz - 1 1/4oz of shot no matter the size of the pellets.
7000 grains to a pound or 437.5 grains per ounce. A normal load of shot in a 2 3/4" 12 Gauge will be around 1 to 1 3/4 ounces. That puts normal loads of shot somewhere around 437-765 grains. I'd think that buckshot loads with buffer would be similar in weight.
