How much for a crashed LS1+drivetrain?

Hi folks. Just joined today to this great community. I have a 1996 Miata, and have recently been researching V8 swaps for it. I'm partial to the LS1, because its light and compact and not too expensive. Or so I hope. How much would a used one cost? I'm not sure any of the local junkyards would have anything like this, so I figured I'd ask you guys first.

I'm thinking I'd need a new clutch, but the old transmission should do if it can be made to fit. Prefer 6sp, but 5sp would do too. :)

I have converted Miata's. One of which houses a 99 LS1. Junk yards don't usually hold on to them long, if at all. The aftermarket crowd gobbles 'em up in a hurry. Check classifieds here & on LS1tech. Don't buy a used transmission. I'd start with a good used engine, maybe $3,000.00 w/ harness, ECU, & smog stuff, a new transmission T-56 or a built 4L60E, & a strong 8.8 Ford rear end.
