Its the drag thats created with the top down thats slowing you down. Its not just your car, its all verts except for one or two very well designed ones like the new 911 Turbo Vert.
so would it still go to full speed with the top down.
The F-Bods? No.. full speed is achieved top up.
Quick question, has anybody ran the 1/4 mile with the top down and then the top up to see the differences in times that it gives?
With a cage you can. I am sure at certain speeds they require it to be up though.
And I bet that speed would probably be 13.99. So most outside of Colorado would be faster than that.
Friend ran with his top down (caged) all the time. But I think he was running right at 14.00's at the time.
anyone know how fast your vert can be before you have to add a roll bar? about how much money do they cost?
if you rolled a vert would it really matter if the top was up or not? I mean, you'd be screwed either way wouldn't you?
by how fast, i meen in the 1/4 mile.
and yeah from what i've heard if u roll ur vert ur fucked eithier way top up or down. IMO you gotta really be driving like an ass to roll an f-body.
ya, probably, but I feel way safer with my hardtop. :)
i think it's 13.99, if not mistaken... basically 1 sec more than a hardtop (based from memory)
so if i went to the track and hit better than a 13.99(which i think i would have to be asleep at the wheel to not) they would kick me out till i get a roll bar. thanks for the help.
No,,,,NHRA rules state 13.49 or quicker for a vert to require a roll cage,,,as well as a 5 point harness to go with it. Although with a cage the tech inspector may be nice and overlook the harness if you don't have one.
Most tracks are pretty easy about it,,,,as I have gone many 13.40's without a word said,(no cage and don't plan to),,,,with more plans to make my car faster it's only a matter of time though before I am booted.
now that sounds better. but i still think i will be able to hit that.13.49 isnt all that quick. do u know about how much places charge for a roll bar(the bar itself and labor). I dont think in i have ever seen one on a vert over here wher i live.
oh and thanks for the info.:rotfl:
