Dual Timing chain Setting?
Guys,
I am in the middle of putting on the dual timing chain and need to know if I should leave the setting at 0 or should I advance or retard while I have it apart?
Specs are:
ls6 motor 400bhp version
xr281 cam (just installed) 228/230 .571/.573 112LSA
underdrive pully waiting to go on after I figure the timing thing out
stock intake for now but will install Fast 90/90 when funds build back up.
pacesetter headers sitting in the box
stock exaust for now borla when funds build back up
stage III Spec clutch sitting in the box.
Upgraded valve springs from LS6 stock yellow to blue comp cams
Titanium retainers (in transit)
comp cams chromoly push rods stock length
and I think thats it.
Advice on the timing setting?
I just tried 4* advance and the valve did not clear the piston. I went down to 2* advance and it clears. thats with using a wrench on the crank bolt. The engine is not in the car so I cant turn it over with the starter. if it clears by turning it by hand will it clear once it fires up? My concearn is the timing chain stretching once there is powr to the crank. if I read another post correctly advance will drop my powerband slightly. Thts what I am tring to achive with this.
thanks
