no different, my uncle is a VP for a big gas company, all they put in is there 1 gallon of additive into 10,000 gallons of gas, it all comes from the same place
1 gallon in 10,000? that doesn't seem like much, but then again, 1 drop of juice from a bell pepper can add flavor to a swimming pool's amount of water. read that in Fast Food Nation. haha
Just go to a newer station and get 93. Shell did have a problem a couple years ago when they launched the Vpower? in the southeast - too much sulfer content and fried some sending units, even had a website up for processing claims. But had friends who used it and didn't have any issues.
Might not have been just Vpower, and the claims have already been settled. Found this on google: www.lawyersandsettlements.com/case/shell2.html Just shows what can happen, I worry more about getting water in my gas from an old underground tank.
They banned those old USTs in California. All gas stations had to get retrofitted with new tanks or close down.
As for gas, yeah, they are all the same. Each manufacturer adds their own set of additives and charges what they feel their additives are worth on top of the base gas price. But they all come from the refinery just the same.
shell v power FTW in my mind. but there is absolutely no difference. at least i heard that. i wont go QT. they only have 91 octane. they think missouri is a part of california....:coffee:
I have stayed away from all that crap mostly because of the whole shell incident a few years back. I just stick with the newer hess stations around town. I was told by the guy that tuned my car that chevron 93 makes the most power. I did't ask if he had facts to back that up but he's a trustworthy guy but most chevrons around here looke pretty rough so I stay away.
I go to QuikTrip all the time...
...but thats mainly because its closest to my house and I love dem taquitos
I work at Chevron, our gas is the best :wall:
I've just recently started going to Arco AM PM gas stations...their gas is always 6-10 cents cheaper than shell/chevron. I use FP-60 every tank so their lack of additives doesn't bother me....but before I used FP-60 I always went to shell/chevron.
QuickTrip? never heard of it before.
only Chevron 93 oct in my TA. but in my beater 93 celica i use any thing but when i have used the Chevron 93 in it (just to clean it out every now and then) i can feel it. it just runs better
I use Chevron 91. we don't have 93 octane here in So. Cal.
typically it's kwiktrip or holiday. every now and then i'll go to a bp or a no name station (sometimes 10 cents per gallon cheaper). i avoid citgo at all costs as they are controlled by venuzuella (i butchered that countries name i know but i'm tired and don't care right now) and i think chavez is a complete communist nutjob.
you live in cali, thats why. when my mom moved to L.A. she called me after a week and wondered where the hell the quick trips were. its just a large chain like mobil and shell gas stations. they all wear the same shit and act like they are your friends for the 15 seconds youre in there.
:haha: yup
