Yes it will be back
I almost doubt it will be back the first year, but I know it will be back. The SS camaro was missing for like 25years since like '72 and came back in 96, but I KNOW it will be back again. I know the ZL-1 will be back too, and I don't imagine there being a Z-28 then jumping to ZL-1 without the SS being in the mix.
For one thing, the Camaro was alway meant to be the Mustang's competition. Well with the new stangs there are SO MANY different models and submodels that Chevy will have to do something to compete. I imagine they'll bring back the IROC-Z as well. With the new stangs theres the v6, gt, c/s(california special),GT-350, GT-500, Pernelli Jones, Shelby GT, Shelby GT-H, and it seems like a lot more than that to add to the list. I know Chevy will offer more than 2 or 3 different models.
I disagree. I think that they will test the North American marketplace first with a very limited offering. Just a base v6 and a Z car. They may offer the SS...but I suspect at 2nd year or so after reintroduction.
The ZLs and other models...doubtful. Maybe a few dealerships and aftermarket builders may mod something up but don't expect it from the factory for quite a while if at all.
With the North American economy being the way it is, I highly doubt a huge offering from the get go. I hope they do but its highly doubtful in my opinion.
the ss is supposed to be offered, but the ss and z28 are swapped.
z28 is now top dawg
chevy has tarnished the "ss" brand recently IMO
If you want to see a list of the possible options there is a survey by Hot Rod:

I don't think I'm going out on a limb by saying that there will be more than a base and a Z28. I think an RS appearance model is likely, as are both SS and Z28's. Possibly one model with the ls3 and one with ls9.
Chevy is going all out with this one...remember it's not a continuation of an existing model. It's a resurrection.
I hope so. It would be nice to see Camaros in full force production again.
i forgot what magazine... might have been motor trend or hot rod magazine, in which case there is a good chance that it COULD be wrong... but it sounded like a reliable source cuz im pretty sure it was like an interview with some guy up there with gm, like bob lutz or along those lines
of course it will....chevy is whoring out the ss badge so much it's lost its meaning. it seriously wouldnt suprise me to see a commercial for a chevy aveo ss.
Hey guys,
My June issue of Chevy High Performance mag states that the camaro will be available with 2 V6 options, along with possibly up to 2 V8 options. The High end V8 (LS3) is to be installed in the Z28 with 400-450 hp. It then says that there is talk of a 550hp supercharged Z28 engine. So, as far as SS goes, who knows....
I've read that the Z28 will be the higher end model of the 6th generation Camaro.
