I think My next mod for my 02 SS is going to be headers. I want to know which set is the best and why. Also are there ground clearance problems with long tubes. Are shorties a good option? I already have the SLP ORY and Magnaflow Catback. Which ones work the best with what I already have? What would be the realistic HP and Torque gain I can expect from this?
if you want the best headers, get kooks or stainless works long tubes.
above are not cheap.
i personally have pacesetters (coated) and really like them.
no clearance problems here either.
i gained 30 rwhp and 29 rwtq with the pacesetter long tubes.
i vote for SW, easy install, great quality, sound great and make great power
QTP also makes nice headers, but again are more pricey. The only ones i heard about having ground clearance problems are the SLP Long Tubes, i would NOT buy those. Also don't bother with shorty or mid length headers they wont help all that much, get a nice set of long tubes, ceramic or Stainless steal
Kooks, QTP, SW and Dynatech Supermaxx are the top ones for clearance quality and power. Take a look at the Y pipes, cats, clamping etc. - that's the real difference between those. Prices are all about the same and they are all stainless.

also would these work on a Convertible?
J & M corvettes in Manchester,CT quoted me a rate of 80$ a hour, and an install time of 8-10 hours for headers and y pipe
is this the usual install price and time?,
because if it is I'm not getting headers

how bad is it to do yourself, are there any special tools required?
are the manifold bolts a bitch to get loose, and or get to?
me and a buddy did it and it took a few hours. i think it was 6 with the EGR removal. it's not hard at all just time consuming. you need you basic tools. do it yourself and save the money for future mods. you'll be glad you did it yourself and saved the money.i am going to longtubes and getting rid of my macs. Byunspeed has a good deal on pacesetters right now. that's what i'm going with.

will the kooks work with all of the stock sensors , egr etc?
get kooks/qtp if you have the money. definetly worth every bit imo
