Suggest engine mods for my LS1 project (budget)

I am putting a LS1 in a 1985 Corvette:

Specs:

4L60E trans
3.07 gears
313 30 rear tires

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Mid to low 12 second 1/4 miles
2. Smooth idle - (wife will be driving it to work for a while)
3. A/C functional (no running hot problems).

I currently have a 1998 LS1 stock with an extra set of 2000 center screw LS1 heads and a complete 5.3 for spare parts. My intake is a non-EGR LS1 intake. I will be running shorty headers, no cats.


BUDGET IS CRUCIAL - Used parts, ZO6 parts...etc, are all good!

look for a used 224 cam with a 114 lsa for a good idle. great power and totally streetable

no2 done right :D!

Cheap and proven to go high 10's on a stock engine when done right

GMHP had an article of a lt1 running low 11's with less then 4k i think

He just wants to run 12's, N2O is definitely overkill for that. Personally I would never run Nitrous through my motor, just doesn't seem worth it to me, no matter how much faster you can run while spraying.

Some good mods for the '98 motor you have:

LS6 Intake Manifold
Long Tube Headers (Pacesetters are $289, if they will fit your car)
Stall Converter
Shift Kit
Tune
Throttle body Bypass Mod (Free)

Those mods should easily put you in the mid-low 12's :)

i may have my slp set up for sale soon, ls6 intake 806 ported heads for an 98, and the cam. this kot was bought from slp by the guy who had the car before me. if interested pm me.i ran 12.59 on the motor with 2,800 stall. thanks.

Are the 806 heads the perimeter screw heads from 97-98?

yes.

Lower gear in the rear-end should help and can be done fairly cheap. 3.73 should have you at peak RPM at the line.

What are the specs on the cam? how extensive of a port job on those heads? ALso how much? pm me
