Hey guys, sorry to ask again, but i got the y pipe off the manifolds and now i can't get it off the cat back. It is already connected to a flowmaster catback and i can't get it off. it looks like its rusted on. i've been trying a lot of wd-40/liquid wrench and torching it. Has anybody been in this problem? And how do i do i get the y-pipe off? thank you
First of all what are you doing? Are you putting longtubes and an off-road y-pipe on? You may just want to hack it off!
I just read your previous thread. Cut a slot in the pipe about an inch long. That should allow enough flex in the pipes. You might need a slot in the top and bottom.
I am just trying to take off the stock y-pipe from my flowmaster catback so i can remove my exhaust manifolds and put on my headers. My problem is the stock y-pipe is stuck to the catback by rust i think. sorry if im being confusing, did that clear it up?
Yes, you cleared it up. Cut 2 slits in the pipe.
sorry but im having trouble following u. i need to cut two slits in the pipe so i can get it to flex.. then what?
You have 2 pipes connected together. The first pipe is larger than the other so that the mid-pipe(which is smaller) fits inside of it. Put a cut in the larger pipe. It will loosen the slip fit connection.

its still not working that well, i'm going to continue to make more cuts and elbow grease but if anyone has another idea, it would be also appreciated, thank you
Use some ionic penetrating oil such as BG In-Force.
After you make slits in the pipe, make sure when you reattach it to the new pipe that you use a band clamp instead of a c-clamp. Or weld the slip fit connection together.
