broken turn signal LEVER

Hi Guys, thanks for taking the time....

I got into my car with some cargo shorts and the damn thigns ripped off my signal lever... called the dealer and they want $475!! So that is in no way gonna happen with my financial situation...

So i ask for all of you to help me figure out how to replace this thing.... there was thread similar to this talking about undoing the steering linkage and such??

Has ANYONE ever tried to do this fix before? I've heard of people replacing them with a c5 lever... what benefits are there to this?

my lever isn't as broken as yours but it doesn't work perfectly and they won't pass you for inspection for it...from what i know you have to take off the steering wheel and take apart the steering column...i've heard you need a special tool to do this though...but yea it's expensive to have fixed cuz it's a pain in the ass i guess
