I am considering this a well. Which pulley is it and if you have to go with a longer serpintine whats the part #?
They are a great to do. you can really feal the power that they free up. i Hve one and i love it.
mine is slowly killing my p/s pump. but who needs p/s anyway?
I have the SLP pulley on my car, love it, it's SLP#100221. You will need two new belts Gates# K060763 and #K040378, and a new stock GM crank bolt.
Hope this helped you guys make a decision.
I appreciate the help, I plan on putting it in sometime toward the end of the month.
Are there any other problems related to the underdrive pully?
Thanks
No you might have to remove the fans to get the air gun in to get the bolt out. You will need a three jaw puller to get old pulley off. Then use a installer to pull it on as far as it will let you. Then use the old bolt to run it down the rest of the way. Remove the old bolt and in stall the new bolt. make sure you torque the new bolt to 260 foot lbs. You will need a starter lock or ahve someone hold a pry bar on hte flywheel while you torque it. I recomend to use gator back belts instead of gates they don't slip at all. Best belt on the market.
260 lb/ft, or you sure, maybe that is why mine keeps jumping the belt forward.
What do you mean "not all the way down", you mean " I need to put more torque to it? It isn't tight enough? And thanks your the first that sounds like he has the answer I hope?!?!?
how much power do you guys gain from doing pullies on ls1's?
nasty- if i'm mistaken the underdrive/ overdrive pulleys for a camaro for example should fit for 5.3 motors in the gm trucks right. if i'm wrong please let me know..if so who offers a good product?
It should fit because all the 5.3,5.7,6.0 cranks are the same stroke. The only difference is that the ls1 has a hole drilled through it. Back to your question it should fit but the only difference might be it the belt alignment. Because a vette pulley won't fit a f-body. I know that asp make one for the 5.3 so you could get it or check to see if a f-body pulley will work but probley not.

is there any notable improvement in gas usage?
You dont have to remove the fans at all. All that you need is a torque wrench. The 3 jaw pulley puller (can get at pepboys for $20 or just rent it) You will need to use the old bolt to help pull the old pulley. I needed to use it on mine. Just left the bolt unthreaded and used the pulley puller on it. I think that the torque that he quoted was wrong. I think that it was something like 50 ft lbs, and the rotate it another 140 degrees. Also just put it in gear. You wont need to take off the starter or anything like that. Just put it in 1 and it will work just fine.

I'm using an ASP U/D
Gas mileage...eh, not really payin attention.
Power...my car revs alot quicker.
You'll def notice the needle on your Amp gauge move down at idle tho.
It's also funny, I thought they gave me a stock pulley cause it was kinda on the heavy side, but when I saw how heavy the monsterous stock one was and how big it was, I was like "DAMN!". The stock pulley could probably be a spare wheel for a horse-drawn buggey or something!!!
