LS swapped 3000gt steering rack question

Hey,

I recently purchased a 94 3000gt vr4 with an LS2 swapped in it. Everything is good besides steering. Steering wheel has 5-10 degree dead spot and when turning, the inner tire turns less than the outer tire, making it extremely hard to turn sharp at all.

The rack and pinion is mounted right against the oil pan, and it has no room to move backwards, so the previous owner made some steering knuckles that connect to the hub and through a ball joint connect to the steering arm. This seems fine, but when turning sharp ish the inner tire will skid because it is not turning sharp enough.

I plan on buying a new rack and pinion, since this one is already rusty and hard lines have been pinched closed.

Please let me know of any ideas.
