Lots of PB Blast and let it sit for at least an hour and keep spraying so it gets into the threads.
Heat wrench FTW. If you do not have an oxyacetylene rig, MAPP gas is your best bet, followed by propane. Heat the nut and use an old candlestick to wick wax into the threads. Works 99% of the time for me.
I favor the reciprocate saw and replace with LT headers option myself :mel:
I have been using blaster for a week and my nuts look bad. Blush. 16 years of rust, I think they will snap. I am trying to remove the bypass cover and the cat is in the way so.....another option is to remove the exhaust manifold. The rear bolt is already broke off. What are the chances another break off in the head and how hard to remove manifold (drivers).
honestly if they snap so be it you can get replacements from any parts store.
IIRC they are pressed in or the ones I dealt with last time where. I used a punch and hammer and they popped out. I could be wrong cause I haven't messed with them in over 10 yrs.
Never broke one off (knock on wood) but would presume that they are either threaded studs or pressed in like Scott said.
