Oil On Coils of LS1
I've got a problem. I blew a gearbox oil line and it sprayed 75W-90 oil all over the engine. After clean up, it runs OK, but I occasionally get a miss. It was suggested to me that I should go through the entire ignition system and clean it with brake cleaner. I've also heard starting spray (ether). Any suggestions or cautions?
Also, I think the alternator got a good dose, as well.
Thanks for any input...

how did you clean up? any chance some might have gotten into the air filter? MAF might be wet? Thinking outside the norm, reaching here...

Some did get into the air filter (Spectre), but I changed it with my spare, which I had already cleaned and oiled. For cleaning the engine, I gave it a light squirt of Purple Power and quickly followed up with a water hand spray mist. Then, I let it drip for a couple of weeks. The hardest part was getting oil out of the low cavities on the edge of the top intake manifold.
My Painless wire harnesses are still pretty greasy, so I will need to clean them with something, before I start pulling off the convoluted tubing and tape. I'm leaning towards the brake cleaner spray rather than ether. I'm reluctant to use Purple Power too much because of it's corrosive nature.

Found what I needed for cleaning the electrical parts - LPS Electro 140 Cleaner. Not cheap, but it works.

I use degreasers in the engine bay from time to time and have had zero issues. I avoid direct water spray on the electronics and dry everything off as soon as I have finished washing it. This includes blowing out all the standing water with an air gun and toweling the spray as I go. Once done, I then start the engine and let it warm up enough to cook off any remaining moisture.
