Brake rotor rubbing

I just put new brake pad on my TA. After installing new pads I've noticed a grinding noise coming from my left rear wheel. I took the tire off and inspected everything and I can see where it looks like my rotor is rubbing on the dust shield( just one spot maybe 1/2 long). What's confusing me is that it only rubs with the new pads. If I put the old pads on it does not make the noise.

So I bought some better quality pads thinking maybe that's it. Nope noise is still there. Only other things I can think of is maybe the rotors are too thin or maybe the axel bearings have gone bad. But I'm baffled as to why it makes noise with new pads and not the old ones.

Any suggestions?

Did you clean and lubricate your caliper pins? They like to seize up and cause issues. The caliper "floats" on the pins and self centers over the rotor. Is it an aftermarket dust shield?

I haven't lubricated the pins. I'll try that. They looked to have a good amount of grease on them. But adding some can't hurt.

Doesn't look aftermarket. Looks factory.

And I didn't say this earlier but if I turn to the left the noise seems to go away. And if I turn to the right it makes the noise.

bend the dust shield....problem solved.

^^ Winner. Wouldn't be the first time one got bent out of shape. Any visible damage?

It was a bent shield. I hit it with a BFH and it's all good. Thanks Orion and Pajeff02 for your ideas.
