Monsoon questions?
So I have what appears to be a 10 speaker system in my '97 T/A, with subs in the B pillars, however there is no amp in the spare wheel well. Does the amp reside somewhere else, or do I not have a Monsoon (much less wattage?)
Also, one of the subs is blown, what are the options for replacement as there is dual voice coils in them. I see a write up on EU700s, is that the best replacement?
Thanks!

The amp will be in the passenger side under the plastic that holds the hatch speaker in. It is bolted in a frame. Remove the plastic, and look around real good with a flashlight. You should see it if it is there. It is black, non-descript looking. Almost square. As far as replacements go, I replaced my ENTIRE system, so no help there, sorry bud.

I've looked, and it's not there... It has to be somewhere though with sail panel subs?

I think you are looking in the wrong spot, then. It is in the hatch area on the pass side. The plastic that you need to remove to take out the spare tire. It is just in front of the antenna about 2'.

I see you are in ND, getting ready to park that car?

Why would you think that I didn't look there, this is the typical location for it from what I've seen on the web. And I've already went back there to disconnect my power antenna that doesn't work... And no amplifier that I can see.
So either they put it in a different place, or there just isn't any. It does not sound like a high powered system anyway, however if I have a dual voice coil 6.75" in my sail panel, there must be an amplifier? Maybe 2007 was an odd year being that it is still an LT1 model, and my head unit does not say Monsoon either.
And yes, unless we have another mild winter, the car will be parked very soon, can you recommend a good car cover to use over the long winter?

Ok, so I just replaced the sail panel subs, boy what a major pain with those screw clips! Only was able to get 2 bolts on each one with the bazooka subs from kee audio.
I still never found the amp, where else can I look?

I lost a few clips when doing my subs too. Once they fall, they are gone forever :lol:
If your HU doesn't say Monsoon on it, it's probably not. No telling what a previous owner did. If your amp isn't here;

then happy hunting :p

Nope no black box in that location, but then how are my subs powered? Just head unit?
The clips do come right off, but the worst part is the bazookas don't line up right... just getting 2 bolts was tricky...

Well, I know that the Monsoon HU has an amp and the Monsoon system also is powered by the second amp in the hatch. If you don't have a Monsoon system, your guess is as good as mine. Have you tried to find out exactly which HU you have?
