I am about to purchase a Spohn tunnel mounted tq arm and on the website they offer two versions. One for '' with LT headers'' and one for '' stock/kooks'' right now I have stock manifolds but I plan on getting Texas speed 1 3/4 LT's in the near future. So which one should I buy? What's the difference?
Different brands of exhaust have different fit under our cars. I have all UMI under our car and their website also contains fitment information based upon the type of exhaust system you run. The Kooks headers look and fit great... but are more pricey than the Texas Speed units. You may be in a bit of a quandary if you stick with the future Texas Speed plans... unless you want to upgrade both at the same time. Best bet though is to call and talk to their tech line to be 100% certain before you make the purchase.
OK thank you for clearing that up. I'm gonna get the UMI full length with relocation cross member.
Good idea. Getting the torque arm off the back of the transmission is highly recommended.
Get the UMI as Spohns have been breaking and they aren't standing behind them.
I bought mine used and cheap BTW;)
Just ordered the UMI setup today:-) can't wait to install it. I cracked my torque arm pretty good last week. Hopefully this upgrade will be worth the $$$

Is it easier to install with the suspension loaded or unloaded? And can I do it with just a floor jack or will I need a lift? It seems pretty straight forward but I can't find any decent write ups to clarify things
Either way will work. I installed mine on a lift and simply used an undercar stand to put pressure on the rear to rotate the torque arm back into place. You can see lots of pics of the install and instructions in this thread: http://www.ls1.com/forums/f8/bidding...-adieu-127890/

Well I installed the torque arm this weekend. It didn't go as smooth as I had hoped but it was all worth it in the end. My car feels like a totally different machine. It shifts so much smoother and is much more responsive. Rather than the Ass end squatting when I mash the pedal I can actually feel the front end lift. All I can say is this was the single best mod I have done thus far.
Good to hear. I went with welded relocation brackets on our Moser rear and the car basically dead hooks at the line. Well worth the $$ and time to install imo.
Relocation brackets are the one thing left that I need. But I don't want to spend the money on them for my 10 bolt since I don't plan on having it much longer
Good choice. I bought a set and never installed them due to purchasing our 12 bolt shortly thereafter.
