Just a quick question as far as i can tell the new plugs are pre gaped but has anybody messed with the gap on the 5.3 and had any luck and a good plug wire recommendation on plug wires would like to go with a msd.

I haven't had to do plugs yet in our Suburban. I can check the spec for you on the gap next time I get out to the garage. I run MSD wires on our T/A and they work great.
I believe that the factory is .60 and i have seen .40 .60 seems more correct to me. Also would it be better to take the throttle body off to clean it or just leave it on and clean it.

You can do a more thorough job, and not risk getting junk in the intake, by removing it. It is simple to remove and you generally do not need to replace the o-ring style gasket. I used Q-tips dipped in throttle body cleaner (carefully sprayed some into the cap from the can) to scrub out the nooks and crannies.
If you go with MSD 8.5mm wires your ohm resistance will drop from 400 to 40 so you will get a stronger signal to the plug which should allow you to open the gap .005 to get a little better flame kernel in the combustion chamber for a more complete burn.
If you buy the Iridium AcDelco plugs, they come pregapped at .040" and you aren't supposed to adjust them. Platinums should be gapped to .060"
MSD wires are good. The AcDelco wires are also good. When you talking about a 7 inch plug wire, there isn't much to gain by switching unless you want "the look" or you need a different wire to clear headers. Not much to gain, but there is a small gain in potential spark energy with the MSD wires.
