I have never seen a 336 in '06.
I think it was a custom dude owned it for almost a year hit some hard times and pawned it. It looks brand new. So what would a reg 336 run for ? Is it a good rifle? Or is there better ( I am sure there is) best bang for the buck
I would be suspicious of it. The 06 has a higher pressure than the 30-30 that was it was originally chambered for. If you decided to pick it up, I would take it to a gunsmith and have him okay you to fire it. Honestly, though, I would pass it by. The 336 is a fine rifle, and my first one. It is relatively smooth to operate, and is very easy to mount a scope on it. The favorite scope with the limited range of the 30-30 would be a red dot scope. Get a large one on the range of a 50mm. That way, you can shoot with both eyes wide open. You can also get a red dot that has a dot subtending 4 MOA. You can use this dot to "range" your target by comparing how much of the deer you cover. If the deer is 18" from top to bottom of ribcage like a typical full grown deer, and your 4 MOA dot covers it, is around 400 yards away. You can see how the math works.
K thanks ummm so for a reg 336 new $289 is good?
Sounds good. That should be the brand new, unfired price. If it used at all, 250 would be more like it.
I think 289 new is a good price, I see them for sale all the time for 300-500 depending on model and wood.
Hey all thanks for the help the 06 was a no go didn't trust it. Went with a 30-30 I love it thanks not as big as a 06 but but ok for me. Now I got my eye on a UTS-15 anyone knows if its good? Saw review and loved it but....it's still new
Good call on not trusting the 06. I wouldn't have.
It was beat to hell ...I got a almost new 30-30 shot afew times its clean no marking in chamber ...everywhere I called up said the same 415 plus tax I got it for 300 out the door

Hey YouTube that uts-15 it's a sick puppy
id look into the Remington 700 in .308
Very different guns. The 336 is bar far a superior brush and gun and will out perform the 700 in most situations under 100yards. I also prefer savage over newer remington guns. Remington has been slacking lately, hell they bought marlin and now marlin has been slacking as well. I see guys all the time looking for "older marlins" or "Pre-remington marlins".
You got a really good deal. And I really like Savage. I have the 112 VBSS in 22-250, and it out shoots my skill all day long and twice on Sunday. Best 3 shot group I got was .375 at a 100. The rifle can do 1/4 inch groups all day. Just needs a better shooter. That accu-trigger is a sweet trigger group.
