Headers and o2's

I was browsing some header info on the Stainless Works website and read the following from their FAQ's

The second reason a CEL will come on is because of the front o2 sensors. The front o2 sensors are meant to reach a certain temperature reading in a certain amount of time. If it doesn't reach that temperature, then it will throw a code.

It does say in the beginning of the FAQ's that a code "might" be thrown.

I'd be interested to know if anyone has experienced this, or know someone that has?

I used to get heater codes with the ACdelco sensors. Most people it seems (and suggested by Orion) run the Bosch sensors and it goes away, as was the case with mine.

I've gotten it once or twice, but i cleared it, and it hasn't come on in a few months. i do have the "slow response" which, so i've read, headers can also cause.

It could be that the 02's are getting old and lazy too (that's what it sounds like to me). With old 02's you'll get those slow switching codes, and sometimes heater codes. Usually gas mileage will start to suffer too because it's not trimming the fuel properly.

Honestly they should be changed every 50k miles or so since they are a wear item much like a spark plug (that's the regiman I follow). Some tuners will tell you to change them every 40k.

When you run LT's you have three choices: 1) run extension harnesses to the O2 sensors, 2) solder in your own sections of wire to lengthen the stock harness, or 3) install a set of Bosch P/N 13111 sensors. No. 3 is your best option as the Bosch sensors come with a nice long harness right out of the box. I have had zero issues running them on our car. Please note that when you go to the parts store that they will try to sell you P/N 13444 sensors -- don't let them talk you into them.
