Will this cam work with a blower?
I had to make some quick decisions on parts and ended up ordering a 224R cam from Texas Speed. They told me that it would be a good cam that would not require any mods such as torque converter now and would work fine when I eventually add a Procharger. Wanting to confirm this. The cam is the 114 LSA version. If I am going to have to eventually change cams I was thinking of getting one of those two piece timing chain cover sets.
How much labor does the two piece timing cover shave off labor for a cam install and anyone have experience using the 224R with a supercharger? Probably only going to run around 7PSI is my guess right now.
A different torque converter would be fine but it seems to be a lot of time and money when I am going to eventually change the trans to a 4L80E when the power demands a stronger tranny and rear diff.
I had budgeted for just some rocker arm trunion bearing upgrades and ended up with the 224R cam, chromemoly pushrods, beehive springs, LS7 lifters, LS2 plastic trays, LS6 ported oil pump and LS1 roller timing set with torrington bearing. So while installing this stuff can look for more loose bearings, upgrade strength and add a bit of power. BUT if I am going to have to change cams later on down the road it could be worth trying to afford that two piece timing cover.
BTW car is a stock 98 WS6 with A4 right now
Thanks for suggestions...
