I'm having quite some difficulty locating a component for the e-brake. It's the little rubber boot on the back of the backing plate. I can't any reference to it doing Google searches and the few UK based American auto parts specialists, I've emailed, have either ignored me or don't seem to understand my description of the part.
Does anyone here know the name of this part so that I can quote it when I re-email some suppliers?

The two boots are in the middle, they go though the backing plate and those little hook looking things go the boot. The cable attaches to the hook.
Sorry for my vague description, blackcar, I meant to say the backing plate behind the rear rotors. My fault. :o
They look like they could be it, but it doesn't look as though they taper to fit neatly around the neck of the hook things, unless the ones pictured have the tapered part tucked inwards.Quote:

You are talking about the dust boot that covers up the Ebrake connection on the back side of the backing plate.
It's a very small dust boot that mimics a shifter boot, flexible accordian type stuff.
Actually, when I was recently building a rearend for my wifes car, these were dry rotted and falling off. I had meant to go to the dealer and order a pair (they are available seperately) but I just didn't have the time and wanted to get the rearend done.
Still something I need to do, wish I had done it now I would have had a part number for you.
They are not pictured in this kit that I can tell,,,,although the little thin brackets that holds the dust boot is pictured there on the right side bottom (oblong thin sheetmetal piece). That's what holds the dust boot. Odd they don't include it in that kit yet they have the bracket that holds it??? Doesn't make any sense.Quote:

I went to the ACDelco website using that part number and it said that the kit was for all except the G80 rear axle (Z28, SS), which I have on my SS :confused:
Is there really a different set up for the SS?
At this rate I think I'll finish up using a piece of an inner tube from a bicyle and a couple of zip ties.
