Just installed headers ESP cam 222/226 113lsa and ls6 intake

I just had all this installed and I am now waiting for my tuner guy to tune my ride I can't wait!!!! I am hoping for 360rwhp I had 318 with just a cat back,Yank ss3200 and lid .

My question is what is the pipe on the side of the lid my mechanic just took off most of it and its now just on the top of my fender shooting out a lot of air. He mentionned something about not removing a pump or something. I am curious about this ? If anyone could help that would be great. I did the EGR by pass as well that cleaned up the engine bay and I find that the MSD wires are close very close even touching on the headers will this be a problem and should I go with different ones I have Kook headers .

Sounds like the air pump. Follow the piping. Does it go down below the driver side turn signal under the fuse panel? If yes get under the car and remove the access pa nel to the turn signal lights. Look up and see the air pump. 3 bolts and 2 electrical connectors hold it in there. Take it out.

If the wires are close to hitting the headers you can always grab some of the spark plug wire boot protectors. Theyre like a kevlar weave sort of thing...look like a chinese finger trap and come in a lot of colors.

Yes it is the air pump should I remove it or does it hurt anything leaving it there? As for the plugs I just slid the metal boot protector up but your idea would work well thanks

If I take the air pump out do I plug the hose that goes to the lid or just leave it

Yes youll need to plug the hole in the lid. Removing it saves some weight otherwise just pull the air pump fuse so it doesnt run.

Yes. Pull the fuse, plug the hole in the airbox, and then remove the air pump assembly and tubing. Cleans up the engine bay, and removes weight. Every few pounds helps!

Thanks, I'm partial to black WS6s. And no, it hurts nothing to keep it there.

What does it do, and what are you keeping it from doing once you remove it?

the air pump injects air into the exhaust stream to cool the exhaust, help burn unburnt fuel, and aid the catalyst...things of that nature. taking it out won't do any harm and it won't really do a heck of a lot of good aside from saving you the weight and the added strain on the electrical system.

Do I take off where it connects to the headers as well?

just curious,,, why did u decide on small cam?
360 ur goal, you probably make more.. i could be wrong.

Well yeah, but then you have to block off the connection at the headers. And if it isn't tuned out of your PCM, now you'll have the SES light come on.

If your referring to the EPS 222/226 with .598 lift and 113lsa well Its a daily driver and it actually should do around 380rwhp and I saw 6 speed pull 397rwhp with my set up. In some cases that vam does better than the 228/228 and 224/224 so I will let you know tomorrow its going on the dyno to get tuned. What oil thickness do you guys use with a cam set up. I use Mobile 1 5w30 some people say its too light what do you guys think?

Is the fuse the one under the hood 30amp It comes out of the lid and goes in the fender and then the pipe sits on the fender pumping air out. Will it change anything if I leave it that way or should I plug that pipe and take out the fuse for now????
