Bad slave?

So last night I drove my Formula about an hour on the highway. As soon as I got off the highway and went to stop at a light and downshift the tranny grinded and it wouldn't go into gear. I ended up having to shut the car off and was able to get it in gear and limp it to a gas station. I let it cool down a bit and it shifted fine. Initially I thought maybe the hydraulic line got too hot from the header and boiled the fluid. However now if you hold the clutch down it will periodically make a loud squealing sound. That leads me to believe the slave could be going. It is now shifting pretty much fine, but I get the squeal intermittently. Should I try bleeding it first, or is the slave likely shot. Just for a little background the slave went in brand new with my monster clutch about 2 years ago and has maybe 30,000 miles on it at most. I would hate to drop the tranny and it not be the slave. Thanks.

I would try bleeding it first. When ive seen slave cylinders go bad they pour fluid out, although that may not always be the case.

Cool. I'll give bleeding it a shot. Really don't wanna drop the tranny at all.

I would exhaust the other options before I go to drop the trans. Try changing trans fluid to since it didnt seem to wanna go into gear.
