Will a 7" double din fit in my ws6?
This is a double din I put in my 99 T/A

I thought a double din was a double din when it came to sizes? Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like the screen size doesn't matter, and all dd's were the same size. That being said. A double din will it.
One in my Camaro. No daytime pictures and disregard the numbers lol. http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...1/photo1-2.jpg
lmao nice 157
what model is that? that info would be nice to have (kinda jelious of the newer models and all their built in features like that[/QUOTE]
It's not a new one lol. But it's an avic f700bt I think. Been a while since I got it. (circuitcity going out of business). I love mine and wouldn't have anything other than a double din and always had great luck with pioneers.
Luckily you have a trans am... My Camaro radio bezel had to be cut and bondo'd and was a little project to get it looking good lol. I think you just get a new trim ring that isn't very pricey.
Still dark but went ahead and got another picture.

Do they make a double din kit for a '99 Z-28, or do I have to send the old one out to be modified?
Is there a tutorial on how to do it? I'm much better at the installation and wiring than I am with the mounting. :)Quote:

You'll need to fabricate some brackets to hold the stereo in the stock location. Not really all that hard to do.

I used a router and template bit to shave off the top and bottom of the bezel. Slowly took away material until it fit. Slim down the MDF with a table saw.

I wish I had those kind of tools, but I don't. I may attempt this tomorrow with a razor, ruler, and a pencil.
You ought to buy another bezel off of ebay to practice on. That way, just in case you mess it up, you'll still have your original :D
Done, but three questions:
1) What do I use to fill in the sides? I need a liquid or paste that hardens so I can sand and paint. Sorta like filling holes on the wall with joint compound, but obviously different.
2) I need brackets, are they universal?
3) What color is the bezel considered on a '99 Camaro, black or ultra-dark grey? I'm asking because I may just give up and order one for $140, but don't know whether to pick black or grey.
Filling the gaps on the sides of the stereo? I glued a thin piece of plastic to the back and used bono to fill it in and smooth things out.
There is also a how-to somewhere. It may be on here or tech, but there is a double dinn mounting bracket that fits the opening. $15ish at Walmart.
Pretty sure I sprayed mine with texture and then black on top. iirc, the vinyl is definitely dark grey but the trim pieces are black.
Post pics of what you have so far. Also, OP said ws6, but you asked about a Camaro trim piece. What is this going in again?
I used bondo and alot of sanding on mine to get it right, also got the f700bt
Derek, have you checked out avic411.com? There are alot of cool mods for this radio

Yeah I've put a new firmware on mine. I like it pretty well. Saw they also have black volume knobs. Need to look into that because my chrome finish is coming off
