What is causing this?
I had another thread on this but dont know what happened to it. Anyways, my hood has been rubbing on my air lid and i do not know the cause. Could it be that after putting the smooth bellow in (done awhile back) it caused the lid to raise up a little an thats causing it to rub? Whatever is going on has rubbed some paint off under my hood and on the lid itself. Anyone had this problem? If so or if you have a suggestion, what do i try?

what do the lines of your hood look like compared to the front bumper cover and headlights? There are adjusters you can use to raise the hood if it's a little too low. The bellows would be another good place to look and see if it's binding the lid but if it were raising it that much I doubt the lid would fit into the tabs on the radiator cover.
What lid is it? Could just be the design of the lid itself.

Def could be the lid design. How long have you had this lid? My lid use to rub fairly good but never took paint off. Has the car been wrecked or had any work done to it recently besides the bellows?

Orion, what do you mean by lines? I do not know the type of lid. When i get home from work i will post pictures. I did put washers underneath thebolts forthe lid and thought that was the problem. Took em off about a month ago and it still rubs. Also got new hood bump stops cause the original ones crumbled up on me. I have those pretty much all the way backed out and still rubbing.
As for the bellow, it has been on there for at least 7 or 8 months and i just do not remember it rubbing the whole time. I think that it really is the cause just took awhile to notice it.

And the lid has been on there since i bought the car back in 07. It has never really clipped all the way either or sat in the holes very well.

My SLP lid will show rub lines from the hood as well, and I'm adjusted properly. I put a piece of thick foam tape on the underside of the hood where the rubbing was occuring. Works fairly well.
-
Could be the way the hood latch is positioned. I don't know if your latch is adjustable, but if it is, the latch could be pulling the hood down too tight and it might be compressing the hood stops.

Make sure that the area were the lid sits is down all the way. When I was a noob in the game, I put washers underneath my lid area too and when I finally took them off, it didn't sit right. I had to play with it to get it back to its original way.

Im gonna play with it this weekend and let all of u know. It very well may be that my hood isnt lining up right. Has seemed a lil off

Its is fairly common for the lid to rub the hood. Its not a problem for everybody, but I've read about it several times. If you can't adjust things well enough for the lid not to rub, I like Knight's foam trick idea.
-
Its looking like the foam is gonna be it. Where can i get it?
-
Home Depot or Lowe's would be my guess.:yup:
-
And its called foam tape?
-
If it's what Knight is talking about, I think it is called foam tape or adhesive-backed insulation tape.

My aftermarket WS9 hood rubs my lid, I hate it too. My stock hood however, didn't rub at all.
-
It must me the way the hood is molded. :dunno:

I know this late but here is an update. I think I found my problem. Last weekend I took the lid and bellow off. Realized that the smooth bellow was pushed all the way back causing it to push up. Just fixed that and all the other issues (lid not clippig properly, hood scraping lid, lid not sliding in its holes) seem to be fixed. Gonna drive it around more to see if I actually fixed it.
Thanks for the help guys.

Let us know how you make out.
