I've got 98 Formula and the fuel gauge is going all over the place. I could have just filled up all the way and it could read at 3/4 tank. I was wondering if this could be a faulty sensor or something.

it could be the fuel sender. thats inside the tank. Have you run any fuel treatment stuff recently?Quote:

Your best attempt at a "cheap fix" is to run a bottle of Chevron Techron Fuel System cleaner through the tank. Follow the instructions and add it to approximately 12 gallons of fuel and then run it until almost empty. Repeat this again for the best result. Sulfer deposits from the gasoline can mess up the sender and this should take care of the problem if that is what is affecting your gauge reading.
Mine did the same thing just before the fuel pump went. All that crap is in the same housing or something like that. Good Luck!!!
