Horsepower/cam help
Hey guys, i just bought my 98 Camaro SS and am looking to start modding it right away. Ive put together a short list of mods and was wondering if any of you could give me a rough estimate as to how much HP i would be making (with good tune of course). ok so here it is:
SLP Lid
FAST 102mm LSXR Intake and Big Mouth Throttle Body
Hooker long tube headers
Magnaflow Cat Back exhaust
Texas Speed 228/228 .588/.588 Cam with 114 lobe seperation
I know that no one can give me exact numbers but all im looking for is a rough estimate. Also, as im not very knowledgable about cams, is there anything else im going to have to get in order for that cam to work or is it a simple matter of installing it?
Thanks

I'd guess about 340-360rwhp and 360-390rwtq, just guessing from what I've seen and read. The intake/TB and cam (to me personally) seem like overkill unless you're going to do heads also. just an observation.
Don't forget subframe connectors and torque arm, and start budgeting for a rearend :/

Ok so ive done a little more reserch, and ive put together a new mod list, im working with a 5000 dollar budget...
AFR 205cc LS1 Heads with Texas Speed 228r Cam 113 LSA- $2764
SLP cold air induction package- $310
BBK 85mm Intake- $455
BBK 85mm Throttle body- $289
Texas Speed 3in rumbler cat back- $239
UMI Bolt in sub frame connectors-$299
Total= $4329
What do you guys think of this setup? Would that get me closer to a 425 whp/425 wtq?
i plan on adding a 9 inch rear end and some long tubes in the near future, ill just have to keep my foot out of it for awhile.
I will be having the car professionally tuned, so that is what the left over 700 dollars will be reserved for.
And would you guys recommend the MS4 cam or the 228r?

If you don't have long tube headers yet then I wouldn't recommend a cam or heads until you do. I would stick to a LS6 intake and P&P TB and leave the BBK alone and use the money toward headers. I would also recomend that you leave the SLP CAI and just get a lid for now. If your car is an auto then you need to be looking at stall convertors before you descide on a cam choice. You can't put the wagon in front of the horse and you need supporting mods before you can play.

Ok thanks, i can pick up a set of Pacesetter lts for 250 bones...whats the catch with the slp cold air setup? bc ive heard good and bad things about it...and i have a 6 speed tranny.
as i have asked before, will this setup get me in the 425 range, or be breaking 11's?
