no you wont lose power, depending what you have now you might not gain any either.
Its all in how your car is tuned
power isn't lost... it's just moved... and like bouigha123 said it's about the tune...
i was thinking of doing a custom straight x pipe set up and wondered the same question. current set up is lts, oryp, hooker catback
Just buy a loudmouth 1
thats a y pipe though not an x pipe
Personally I would get the loudmouth2 resonators a little more expensive but no where near the rasp of lm1 setup if you have or get long tubes.
very true
Wat difficulties
^^^all the difficulties of the noise (I mean V8 unmuffled music!). Attention from the wrong people (cops). Things like that.
Go kooks lts and true duals itd b hardcore
A few years back (around 2001) , Car Craft actually looked into the "straight pipe vs catt'ed" debate. They noted that with a good high flow converter design , you actually GAINED torque over a straight pipe exhaust. They mentioned that it actually "straightened" airflow (reduced turbulence) in the exhaust.
I'll try to look for it. Only problem is I tossed a bunch of magazines when I moved two years ago. I'll see if I can turn it up.
