I yanked my 99ls1 and replaced it with a 03 ls6 with a large cam no head machine work. Do you think the stock maf and TB need to be replaced?

i think the ls6 tb is the same as the ls1. not to sure but wait till another person chimes in.
The LS6 MAF was a slightly larger piece but the engine will run with the stock LS1 MAF.
A tune would definately be in order though. The MAF tables would be completely different for starters.
I'd give Frost a shout, he can steer you straight. He has tuned alot of the LS6 swaps done in LS1 F-bodies.
i would do it because the ls6 intake is a good upgrade over the ls1 and matched with an aftermarket cam the motor will breathe better. the better it breathes, the more power the motor will put out. the ls6 maf is an 85mm maf if i remember right. stocker is 75mm. bigger with intake is nice but the tune will keep the maf in line with the cam. not sure how well the oem ls6 maf handles non oe cams. i dont expect it to be smooth driving without the tune.
Its @ Motorcity speed as we speak. Going afterwork for the HP Dyno pulls just looking for opinions.
And I don't have the Maf or TB from the ls6 just my ls1
Yeah that's what I was trying to decifer if it was gonna be worth the extra loot or not. I am picking it up today and he said we could fix any small drivabilty issues that might show up when I'm driving it more in a month or so. Or if I decided to replace the two pieces b4 then we could fix that also
Is your stock TB ported, if not have it ported, and just use the stock MAFS.

if he goes that route, then that is a sizeable price for little gain. might be cheaper just to buy a ported tb. it will definitely be cheaper to port it yourself though. not sure what that company will charge for suck a small job. not sure if budget is an issue though either.
ls6 intake will wake the car up. not bad for cam and untouched heads though. running an auto? just a guess because the numbers range. autos aren't dyno friendly and the mustang dyno gives low numbers compared to other brands.
