I need to order my torque converter. It's a bone stock LS1. I would like to keep it under 500.00.
I'm looking for advice on brand, stall ....etc.
Also are these 30 spline?
Thanks!

I have a street performance stall from Circle D they go to 3200 rpm and cost$400. They also make high performance single disc version for $725 and you can get higher rpm stalls. They build them when ordered so you may have to wait.a.couple.days. I have the $400 3200 rpm stall and it's a nice stall and better than any other stall I have found in the price range.
TCI street fighter 3000 rpm stall.
TCI street fighter 3500 rpm stall..
What difference would I see with a 3500 and stock converter? I guess I'm just confused .....
You get all the advantages of a high stall converter but the converter will still lockup (directly connecting the engine and trans like a clutch in a manual transmission) at highways speeds.
Read this sticky for more info: What stall convertors do. If you still have questions, please ask. I'll try to explain as best I can
Radical IMO is a 4000 or bigger converter.. For a stock car..
The stock converters are 1900. With a stock converter you have to build power from 1900 until the stock shift point 5600 rpm I think.. A 3500 converter is going to flash to 3500. You will then build power from 3500 until the same stock shift point (5600 rpm). The idea is to get the motor into the power band quicker. Going to a different converter size does take time to get use to. I would say it would take a week or two to get use to it. Once use to it you will think GM should have put it in the car to begin with. Besides SFC (sub frame connectors) it should be the first mod on a A4 LS1.. It really wakes the car up and makes it a blast to drive.
Putting a 3400 stall (with accompanying tranny mods and cooler) into the 02 lowered my ET by .5 seconds.
Good info here ... and I think I'll go with the TCI street fighter 3200 and "feed those monkeys" some bananas!
I rebuilt the tranny and upgraded the sun shell (Beast), clutches (6 vs 5) and type (Raybestos racing type), added a shift kit (TCI) along with internal valve body mods and deleted TM.
The tranny can now handle way more than I can currently throw at it. I did this with future mods to the engine in mind.
All this might not have needed to be done at the time but it was out of the car already and partially disassembled for inspection sooooo...
Is there something wrong with your current converter? Because i was thinking you were looking to upgrade to a higher stall converter.
You look around this forum for someone local and ask for a ride in there car and see if you'll like how the higher stalls drive/perform.
Read this thread. Lots of good info about high stall converters in LS1 cars
