I have an 02 SS with an 02 z06 cam and springs.
Specs(205* intake, 219* exhaust Lift: 0.551 intake, 0.549 exhaust LSA: 117.4). I was told this is the largest cam I can install before the engine light comes on. Is this true? I DO NOT want to take anything out of the system in order to run a larger cam. I want all the.emissions equipment in place. Rear o2s, converters and air system. What are some specs u guys r running while keeping the emissions equip? Thanks.
Why don't you just write a letter asking for an extension? That's what I do. As for the engine lights and stuff I couldn't help you there. If they do come on you could always tune em out
I don't want to tune them out. I want all the emissions equip working.
Couple questions:
Do you run stock exhaust, or have you installed headers and aftermarket converters?
Have you already installed the Z06 cam, or are you in the planning stages trying to choose which cam to install to upgrade from stock?
It has borla exhaust, aftermarket converters, but stock manifolds. The cam and valve springs are already installed. I guess if I think about it, the z06 cam specs are pretty good for a street car. I did have it at a tuner and he said its running too fat right before wot. He also said it has room for improvement both in power and economy. A street tune is $400.Quote:

228R can make it past emissions here in Colorado.
Could probably go a little bigger if you wanted to have a tune for emissions and one for the other 364 days of the year. :lol:

you need -5*to -7* over lap on a cam to pass most emissions.consider a thunder racing tr224 at 114 lsa.or get a custom cam,you will need more exhaust timing with a stock exhaust.there are a couple of cams designed for your needs.
If you want something bigger, I would get a custom cam... but, keep in mind you will have to change the springs.
If you decide to keep the one you have, get a good tune on it...
