I have a five thousand dollar budget to spend on a motor. I was planning on spending it on a brand new ls-2 motor but I thought that I could build a stronger and tougher motor with this money. Any ideas?

I was going to give you a list of tthings you could do with your money and then I noticed you have an LT1. Don't know anything about them.
I actually don't have an lt1 in this car anymore. I want to put an LS2 motor in this car but I thought I could use the money to install something stronger
well if you are converting from an LT1 to an LS motor, I bet a nice chunk of that $5000 will go into the conversion alone, then whatever is left will go into the motor itself.
Well i have other money set aside for the conversion, and the 5 grand is money dedicated for the motor itself
oh nice!!!
What would you like to do with this car. Daily drive? Weekend track car?
Daily driven, I was thinkin of an ls7 but the lowest I've seen it was for $14,800. That's too much. I want like a 6.0L or bigger not too radical though.
I think a good option would be the GM 6.2 LS3 Hot cam crate engine. Its slightly over your budget, but I think it will more than satisfy what you are looking for. You can pick one up brand new for $6500 from any GM crate engine supplier/dealer, and its a complete engine with just about everything you will need. Its rated at 480HP, which is said to be conservative :)
Trick flow makes a streetable 515 @ the crank heads and cam package for LS1's that goes for around $3k. Or you could probably build a 408 stroker from a junkyard iron block 6.0.
I have seen 6.0's with ls3 heads, cam and boltons make 500whp all day. Good cheap way to make power. Lq4/lq9 work well
