I'm going to start on a cam swap tomorrow in my 02 WS6. I'm going with the TR224/224-112. I feel pretty comfortable with the swap as I have the GM manual and the write-up from LS1Howto.com. The one remaining issue is whether the cam sensor needs to be removed. Can anyone help me with this?

Did you hear something about it being removed/replaced?
I don't think the write-up on LS1howto mentions the sensor, so I am curious to why it came up.
You are correct; the LS1howto did not say anything about removing the sensor. My GM manual however, did say to remove as part of a cam replacement. Thanks for clarifying this for me!

I left mine in without any problems.
only reason to remove is a precautionary reason. so you don't accidentally break the tip with the cam journal. i've done a cam swap and left it in. so have hundreds of others.Quote:
