I'm going to look at a LS1 long block tommorrow. It has 68000 miles out of a 99 camaro. Motor does not come with intake, throttle body or coils, but auto trans can also be included. He is asking $1500 for motor and trans. Is this a good deal?

I'll chime in and say yes if the transmission is good. If it needs a rebuild I'm not sure.. Depends on what those go for normally.
The coils are going to cost quite a bit unless you find some on the board used.
well i got it for $1300. I plan on keeping the whole set up as a spare if mine were to go out so coils,intake, and throttle body would be reused from current motor.
good plan, ya never know when something will gerande under the hood. I did the same thing myself, got a long block only for 900 and just have it as a "what if" motor
or, even better, you could take your time build this new one to what you want then just swap them :)
