Got the polished ZO-6 rims yesterday....not chrome...and waiting on tires. the rims are front-17x9.5's and rears 18x10.5's. If I'm correct, the tire combo should be fronts-265/40's and front 295/35's? Does that sound right? Tire dealer tells me too wide and too small a sidewall. What do you guys think?
I think you can go up to 285 up front and 305 out back. sidewalls are fine.
I run Hoosier A6 autox tires on the same rims, 295/35 and 315/30. The race tires may have some different profiles though...
Damn. 315's! Just put rim on right side for fitting. Jacked up car on right side, put rim on only and found can barely fit a pencil between rim and bump stop bracket. Someone mentioned to me that jacking up right side pulls rear inwards and not aprblem when car is on ground. Does that sound right?
Yeah, the bump stop is an issue if you let the rear hang, I always jack mine from under the diff cover on the rear. I also run 5/16 spacers on the rear. The tire will rub the "hump" on the inner fender and possiblly the LCA under hard corners. A little hammer action to relieve the hump and roll the LCA flange works wonders.
