Where can I buy a Ram air hood for cheap?
ebay
online
afterthoughts auto has one i believe
Thanks guys finally found one on ebay!
Too bad you found one on ebay already I was going to say your in TX all you have to do is go to a Certi fit and pick one up I paid $250 2 yrs ago I think their like $275 or $280 now. If you go to certifit.com and just look up locations there are a few in TX I know one is in Houston another Dallas and I think the other is San Antonio so if your close by their they usually have them in stock. Not as good as Factory but mind fits as good as any other aftermarket hood I've seen.
i was going to suggest certifit also...but ive never tried it but that will be where ill buy mine from :)
the local certifit got a bad reveiw...........:tap:
Just make sure you inspect the hood on pickup and you'll be good. Not sure what the bad review is about just a parts store like any other and you have to inspect parts or if you get a cracked hood just have them get you another just don't take what they have without looking. Parts get damaged in shipping and storage all the time.
there is 1 in arlington.........the reveiwer wrote how crappy the fit was on the cheap china crap he bought
Some parts fit better than others depending on make, model, and yr. Also you have to remember you get what you pay for. I pay $40 or so for moat bumpers and fenders as opposed to over $100 at a junkyard and 90% of the parts fit great. Some bead a little extra work but like I said I have seen few aftermarket hoods that fit any better than mine. Factory is different but then so is the price.
how much would it cost to paint the hood in question..black
I think I charges the last guy $400 to prep. The hood to remove the usual fiberglass imperfections with glazing putty. Then a couple coats of high build primer. Block it smooth. The some dk gray primer sealer and dupont 99k basecoat blk or 8555 same thing but quart cans of 99k are cheaper. I basecoated the underside and only cleared the top and wet sanded and buffed it to a mirror finish. Expect to pay between $400 to $500 for a quality job. Under $300 is usually MAACO quality work. If you do some sanding and prep yourself it'll save you money and you don't need any specialty tool or paint guns to prep it. PM ME if you want full instructions and I'll help anyone out who wants to save a few bucks on simple yet time consuming prep.
I went to their website and clicked on the dallas catalog and they dont have hoods for sale.
Could you post a link to it for me?
