I'm gonna say it will. The full size gm trucks frames stayed basically the same from 73-87I think some 88's too. Alot of people are doing this stuff lately. I am working on putting all the drivetrian from a wrecked 08 chevy duramax into a 93. Post some pics if you can.
Sounds cool other than a body lift. Spend the extra money to lift it right!
I understand that, but you should just leave it stock height till you can lift it right.
You will still need the rubber mounts. Unless the kit you are getting has new bushings, which I doubt.
ive mixed and matched 73-87 parts on 2 or three of my trucks b-4 no prob. but i agree on the lift- your cabmounts still get used w/ the body lift the spacers go in between your mounts and frame they don't replace them.
thanks for the info guys
the body parts fit yes but there is a differance in the body bushings and the holes. the newer modle frame mounts have larger holes. so you will need to make the holes larger where the bushings go.That is just for the cab, and if i remember correctly the front bushings. The bed mounts right up no problem. You may be able to use the older style bushings on the newer cab ,but I am not sure if the bolt size is different. I bought the entire bushing kit that came with new bolts for the newer cab. I then made the cab mount holes a little larger to make them work.
When I redid the my 73 chevy I had I had parts from 73 all the way up to 88 on my truck. it is just a matter of slight mods. all the holes lined up just different sized holes here and there.
From personal experiances do not do a body lift over 3 inches that is death,as is suspension blocks. do it right or not at all.
One last thing if you have the truck completely apart use por15 or hammerite on everything paintable that isn't seen. like the insides of the fenders, the frame, and mounts.the bottom and floorboard of the cab ,the bottom of the bed, and i used it on the inside of the bed as well.
