New Twin project.

I'm setting up a new turbo project since I'm finally done with my S10 project. I have a few questions about turbo set ups, this will be my first. First, Can I turbo a TBI system (Mid 80's to early 90's v8) and if so what extra does it take? Is there a prefered Piston? I will only push 8-12 pounds at the most. Cam's? anything that will do best? And most important What kind of compression do I need to start with? 8:1? 7:1? 9:1? I have alot of questions before I can start this project, Please help me out =)
